Biography

Jaewon Choi (최재원) is the Founder and Executive Director of the DMUN Foundation, an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to the service and advocacy of children and youth. He founded the organisation in 2021 and has led it to 27,284 members across 172 countries and territories.

As Executive Director he is the Foundation’s chief administrative officer and head of its Secretariat, leading a volunteer staff that works from Seoul, Boston, New York, Geneva, Vienna and other duty stations. Under his leadership the Foundation has become one of the largest youth-led organisations in the world, with free educational programmes, a research arm and a growing presence across the intergovernmental system.

Mr. Choi represents the Foundation in intergovernmental settings. He serves as Thematic Focal Point for Tax of the Major Group for Children and Youth, has addressed the negotiations on the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation, and delivered the opening statement on behalf of children and youth at the 2026 High-Level Political Forum, reported as the youngest opening speaker in the forum’s history.

He has met and worked with senior figures across the multilateral system, including the President of the World Bank Group, the President of the Economic and Social Council and the heads of regional and intergovernmental organisations, always with one aim: a real seat at the table for young people.
